It is time!
Time to sign up for some awesome beach volleyball in Rockwall! Below
you will find information regarding East Beach's Junior Training Program
and the 2014 Beach Tournament Series!
But first a huge THANK YOU to Darren Rak, Chris Hill and the Oasis Beach
and Tennis Club for allowing East Beach to make Oasis of Rockwall our
home for junior beach training and another exciting beach tournament
series. None of this would be possible without
the vision and cooperation of Mr. Rak and the Oasis team!
What you need to know:
Junior Training Program Open House / Registration:
Sundays, May 4th & 11th from 4pm-6pm at Oasis Beach Club.
Oasis is located at 5757 Hwy 205 in Rockwall.
We are inviting any players and parents interested in our junior
training program to join us Sunday. Players will be playing on the 9
sand courts while parents can learn more about the program, meet the
staff, and enjoy a beautiful evening at Oasis Beach.
We will be taking registrations and laying out a host of East Beach swag
for anyone interesting in gearing up before the summer begins.
Summer Training Program: May-July
Sessions: We will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p-8p. These will begin on May 13 and run through July 31.
Staff: The East Beach training staff is second to none in DFW.
Maggie Brindock – Trained with USAV Collegiate National Team. 4 year
starting setter at Notre Dame. 2 time USAV Beach National Champion
(2008, 2009).
Kaitlin Vasquez – Played collegiate volleyball at UT Pan-Am. Former beach player. 4 years coaching experience.
Travis Ferguson – AAA rated CVBA beach volleyball player. Coached
numerous AVP tour players, including Courtney Guerra and Dhiraj Coates
(current head beach coach at Cal State Northridge). Over 20 years
coaching experience.
Damon Wilson – Former head collegiate women's volleyball coach at Howard
Payne University and Tarleton State. Former beach player. Over 20
years coaching experience.
Randy Lewallyn – Played and coached collegiate volleyball at Howard
Payne University. Former beach player. Over 20 years coaching
experience.
Morgan Hawkins – 4 year starting setter at Heath High School. Played collegiately at Seminole College.
Cost: $800
This may be paid up front at the time of registration or in payments.
Registration includes beach volleyball, East Beach/Mizuno beach swimsuit, and t-shirt.
Commonly Asked Questions:
Is beach training good for indoor players? Yes. Beach training
training improves ball control, communication, explosiveness, and
overall strength.
Do I need a partner? No. Players will be training in small groups that are not dependent on set partners.
Will I be able to train with my partner? Yes. Drill will be designed to allow partners to training and develop together.
Will East Beach help me find a partner if I want to compete in tournaments? Yes.
Do I need experience? No. 9 courts and a large staff allow us to train a variety of ages and skill levels on different courts.
Are the tournaments required? No. Players are not required to play in
East Beach tournaments. There are many playing opportunities in DFW,
throughout the state, and around the country which we will make all of
our players aware of, but players that are training
with East Beach are not required to compete in tournament play.
Can boys sign up? Yes. We have the space and the resources to train
boys. We would love to pass our love of men's beach volleyball on to
the next generation!
Summer Tournament Series:
Last summer was a tremendous success! In our fourth tournament we had 53 teams in 6 divisions, including 12 boys teams.
We are going to expand our 2014 tournament schedule from 4 to 8 events. The schedule will be posted by the May 4th Open House.
